The National Association of Home Builders is an organization that represents our housing industry nationally. Headquartered in Washington, DC, the NAHB staff and volunteers represent builders on Capitol Hill year-round and constantly lobby Congress for the strongest housing industry possible so as to afford opportunities for every person striving to achieve the American dream of owning their own home. The NAHB represents developers, builders, remodelers, associates, and affiliates in all 50 states, but the organization has also structured state and local associations across the country to better serve the needs of our communities and members.
The Commonwealth of Kentucky boasts a strong Home Builders Association of Kentucky (HBAK), which serves over 6,000 members across the state. Through 22 different local associations (all operating with a professional staff, executive committee, and full Board of Directors), our state and its regions address the issues that affect our industry and every homeowner, developer, builder, remodeler, and associate member.
In 2006, I was honored to serve as the president of the Northern Kentucky Home Builders Association. That leadership position allowed me to grow and recognize the need for every builder and remodeler to give their time and talent to the homebuilding industry through association service. With this desire in mind, I dedicated myself in service to the HBAK leadership team in 2007. It was an honor that the state association’s staff and leadership team identified me as a professional leader with an authentic style of servant leadership.
I accepted the invitation to serve as the president of the HBAK in 2010 by first serving single year appointments as secretary, treasurer, and vice president. I’m honored now to serve as president and am glad to travel our Commonwealth throughout this year to learn more about how different areas and people have rebuilt this industry. The HBAK is a strong and valuable organization to all homeowners, and I look forward to a productive year at the helm, serving with a terrific team.
